Part of the Himalayan Yoga Association® Community — Rishikesh, India
Welcome to Himalayan Sound Healing School, a dedicated space for learning the ancient and transformative art of sound healing in Rishikesh, India. Set in the spiritual surroundings of the Himalayas and close to the sacred Ganges, our school offers an environment where sound, vibration, awareness, and inner exploration come together naturally.
Sound has been part of healing and spiritual traditions for centuries. Across different cultures, people have used rhythm, voice, bells, bowls, gongs, and other instruments to create states of relaxation, meditation, and deeper awareness. At Himalayan Sound Healing School, we bring this traditional understanding of sound into a practical learning environment where students can experience, understand, and practise sound healing step by step.
Our sound healing courses are for individuals who want to learn more about sound for their own wellbeing, enrich their spiritual practice, or want to learn how to perform sound healing sessions with others. This doesn't require you to be a very good musician, or an advanced practitioner to start. It's important that you're willing to learn, willing to practise, and are genuinely interested in the connection between sound, vibration, and the human experience.
The training focuses on experiential learning. Students don't just read about sound healing, they listen, observe, practice and get feedback from the teachers who have experience. You develop an understanding of the different instruments being played, how sound is added into a session, ways in which to support a session, and how to play with awareness and care for participants.
In our school, we feel that learning sound healing isn't just about learning techniques. It is also about developing sensitivity. You slowly become more attuned to listening, watching for nuances, knowing when and why to start or end movements, and working more confidently and at ease with sound. This way, you can gain confidence while still enjoying the same traditional and meditative experience.
The school is quiet, friendly and provides an environment conducive to good concentration. The school is situated in the town of Rishikesh, in the heart of the Indian Himalayas and steeped in yoga, meditation, spirituality and Himalayan traditions. The setting is calm, and the surrounding Ganges and natural environment offer students a peaceful atmosphere that allows them to step away from daily life and focus on learning and discovery.
Students of all backgrounds and from all over the world are welcome. Some make these visits to have their first experience of sound healing, while others have previous experience in yoga, meditation, Reiki, wellness or other holistic practices. Courses are structured at different levels to allow students to choose according to their interests, experience and aspirations.
Himalayan Sound Healing School welcomes you to embark on your journey with awareness and patience, and with an open heart. Enjoy the peaceful ambience of Rishikesh, connect with authentic sound healing instruments, meet fellow seekers and explore the role of sound in your personal and professional growth. This foundation supports your journey toward sound healing with confidence, presence, patience and respect.

Explore Our Sound Healing Courses
At Himalayan Sound Healing School, our sound healing training courses are divided into progressive levels so students can choose a course according to their experience, interests, and learning objectives. Each level introduces new knowledge and practical skills while building on the understanding developed in previous stages.
Our courses place strong emphasis on experiential learning, practical application, sound healing techniques, and a deeper exploration of vibration and awareness. You may begin at the foundation level or choose combined training if you want to move through several levels in a more complete learning journey.
The approach is progressive and designed to make learning clear, structured, and accessible. Time is given to each stage so that concepts are understood before moving into more advanced practices, helping students build both confidence and consistency in their training.
The focus is on learning through doing rather than learning only through reading. Students are encouraged to ask questions, observe demonstrations, practise regularly, and receive one-to-one support from teachers. This creates a traditional yet practical learning experience that helps develop confidence while also honouring the meditative and reflective nature of sound healing.
Through the courses, you will explore different ways of working with sound, understand how instruments respond, and learn how to create an atmosphere of relaxation and mindful presence. These trainings are suitable for personal growth as well as for students who wish to develop professional sound healing skills. Your journey will naturally depend on your previous experience, your intention for learning, and how deeply you wish to continue your practice.

What Is Sound Healing?
Sound healing is a holistic wellness practice that uses sound vibrations to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Rooted in ancient traditions, it has been used across cultures to restore balance and harmony. Instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, and the human voice create specific frequencies that help calm the nervous system and release tension. Sound healing can guide the mind into deeply relaxed states, supporting stress relief, emotional clarity, and better sleep. While not a replacement for medical care, sound healing works as a complementary practice, helping the body and mind return to a natural state of balance and inner calm.

I really enjoyed my time here studying sound healing. Tanmay gave clear instructions for the protocols & my morning private classes with Renuka were lovely, as she was able to teach based on my goals. The food was yummy and the space airy + bright. Short walk to the Ganges River

I just completed Sound Healing level one with Tanmay. This is a short 2 day course but covers alot in this short time. Tanmay is a very passionate and experienced teacher. All instructions were filled with soulful wisdom and come from a place of authenticity. Tanmay is a true yogi.
I highly recommend this course for anyone wishing to delve into the healing power of Sound.

She is one of the most knowledgeable and deeply intuitive teachers I have ever met. Her passion for sound healing is infectious, but it’s her wisdom, and calm presence that make learning from her such a gift. She shared so much of her light with us, and I felt genuinely encouraged and supported to step fully into the world of sound healing and with her guidance purchased my own set of Himalayan singing bowls !!

Explore Sound Healing From Foundation to Advanced Practice
Each level gradually develops your understanding of sound, instruments, listening, session structure and responsible facilitation through practical experience.
Level 1 Sound Healing Course
Level 1 is the starting point for students who want to begin their journey into sound healing. It explores the basics of sound, vibrations, listening and relaxation and provides hands on experience with Himalayan singing bowls.
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of playing singing bowls and learn how sound can be utilized in their own practice and in short healing sessions. Training allows the learner to get to know the instruments, how they react to various playing methods and gain confidence by practicing them under guidance.
This is an introductory level for beginners and for those who want to delve into sound healing but don't want to delve too far. There is a focus on establishing a solid base by experiencing, observing and learning through practical application.
In addition to practical skills, Level 1 has students working towards a calm and attentive attitude to sound. Simple techniques are practised and the importance of preparation, intention, listening and participant comfort is learnt.
The Course provides a safe environment for the beginner to learn without pressure and slowly develop a comfort level with the bowls. At the end, you will know the fundamental principles of sound healing and have a foundation for proceeding with greater clarity, confidence and awareness.
Level 2 Sound Healing Course
Level 2 is designed for students who have completed the foundation of sound healing and are ready to develop their practical understanding further. This course explores the use of Himalayan singing bowls in greater depth and will introduce some techniques that will enable you to approach sound with greater structure and mindfulness.
As students train, they further build their skill and knowledge of playing and working with singing bowls, and how sound can be used in various healing sessions. More emphasis is placed on listening, vibration, resonance, placement, timing and the experience of the person who is receiving the session.
The course also promotes students to be more confident in creating a peaceful and supportive space. You learn how to organize a session, communicate with the people and be sensitive and aware in your practice.
At Level 2 pupils are given the opportunity to develop their skills beyond the basic techniques and to gain an understanding of how sounds can be combined. Students are demonstrated and repeatedly exposed to gaining more control over the instruments and how comfortable they feel, to allow them to create sound sequences.
This course is suitable for students who want to further develop their own personal practices and begin to develop techniques to create sound healing sessions for others. The emphasis is still on practical and experiential learning, enabling you to learn through hands-on experience and guidance from experienced teachers.
In Level 2, you are introduced to the connection of the instruments and how sound can be an essential part of your wellness practice with regular practice and conscious awareness.
Level 3 Sound Healing Course
Level 3 is for students who wish to take their sound healing practice to a deeper level and develop greater confidence in conducting structured sessions. The training builds on the knowledge acquired in the previous levels, and introduces more complex techniques in the use of sound, vibration and various sound healing instruments.
Students learn about the effect that different sounds and combinations of instruments can have on the atmosphere and experience of a session. A greater emphasis is placed on resonance, rhythm, timing, transitions and the manner in which sound is introduced and slowly developed in a practice.
Learning from experience is a crucial aspect of this level. Pupils are given opportunities to practice using various instruments, watch demonstrations and take part in guided lessons. This enables them to learn not only how an instrument is played, but also how it can be used correctly in an entire sound healing session.
Training also enhances the participant's awareness of his/her comfort and personal needs. Pupils develop a more sensitive, prepared, communicated and responsible attitude to sessions.
For practitioners, level 3 may be useful in broadening their repertoire of skills, and for students to build their confidence in facilitating sound practices. It promotes more listening, more conscious instrument use, not just technique-based.
As students work through this level, they will develop more of a practical understanding of sound healing and are better equipped to plan for the creation of calm, balanced and thoughtfully structured sessions for themselves and others.
Level 4 Sound Healing Course
Level 4 offers a deeper exploration of sound healing for students who have already developed a strong foundation and wish to refine their practical skills. This time the training is focused on increasing awareness, confidence and sensitivity in the use of sound healing instruments and participants.
Students examine more sophisticated methods of using sound and vibration in solo and ensemble performance. The course invites participants to become aware of how multiple instruments can be integrated, how to design a session, and the effects quality and timing of sound can have on the session.
Listening and responding are an important component of training and not just performing steps in a prescribed order. Students are encouraged to increase their awareness of sound, resonance, space and participant response. This helps develop a more natural and attentive approach to facilitation.
A safe, peaceful and comfortable environment is also a focus of the course. Students are taught the importance of preparation, communication, positioning, pacing and awareness for a positive session experience.
Level 4 is for practitioners who wish to expand their knowledge and build their confidence in using various session styles. It offers opportunities for further practical training and also helps learners to link their learning to their own practice.
Students learn to control their instruments more and more, and to sound healing in a more mature way, by guided teaching and repeated practice. The training promotes the growth of practice in an appropriate manner, whilst respecting the traditional roots and meditative character of the practice.
Level 5 Sound Healing Course
Level 5 represents an advanced stage of sound healing training for students who wish to deepen their knowledge and refine their approach as practitioners. It combines the knowledge, hands-on experience and consciousness gained in the previous levels.
Students begin to deepen their understanding of sound healing at this point with a focus on conscious facilitation, refined instrument techniques, session structure and the participants' experience. The training inspires practitioners to interact with sound in a responsible and thoughtful way and not only relying on pre-given techniques.
Learners are given opportunities to practice various methods of conducting individual and group sessions, and are given guidance and feedback. This hands-on experience can foster confidence, listening skills, timing, and the flexibility to adjust to the environment and participants.
At level 5 students are also encouraged to consider themselves as sound healers. Patience, presence, clear communication and respect for individual boundaries are required for a deeper practice. These are regarded as essential characteristics of a responsible sound healing practice.
The course is suitable for students who have completed the lower stages and wish to further build their skills and understanding. It offers scope for further investigation and still has a hands on learning approach.
At Level 5, students will build on their previous learning and experiences to produce a more confident, grounded and mindful approach to working with sound through advanced practice, observation and guidance.

Combined Sound Healing Training
The Combined Training option is designed for students who want to explore the complete progression of sound healing training through multiple levels. Rather than learning each stage individually over a longer time, students will be able to take a structured learning path, building their knowledge and skills over time.
The training starts with the basic foundations and moves on to more advanced techniques and session facilitation, as well as a more in-depth understanding of practice. This will enable students to develop their skills progressively and in a continuous manner.
For students who travel to Rishikesh specifically for sound healing training and want to give some dedicated time for their practice, a combined programme can be of great help. The training is immersive which allows for increased opportunities for frequent practice, observation, feedback, and exploration.
Students are introduced to various sound healing instruments and how they can be used in group and individual situations. They are also developing their knowledge of sound, vibration, resonance, preparation, communication and responsible practice throughout the journey.
The programme is appropriate for those who are serious about learning and would like to study the subject in a systematic manner and build a wider base in sound healing. It can also give an opportunity to meet others and get a deeper insight into the learning environment of Rishikesh.
A joint training program can help students gain more knowledge about sound healing practice and confidence through regular practice and instruction. Experience, awareness and understanding are still at the heart of it.
Learn progressively, practise consistently, and allow each stage of training to build naturally on the one before it.
Which Sound Healing Course Should You Choose?
The selection of the best sound healing course will depend on your experience and the reasons for learning sound healing and how involved you want to get. The level of training is progressive and there is no one size fits all course.
For those who are new to sound healing, this is a logical introduction for you to start. It shares the fundamentals and allows you to get to know the basics of Himalayan singing bowls and the basic sound healing techniques.
For those who have had a bit of experience with sound healing or have done introductory training, Level 2 or 3 might be the next step in your learning process. These levels enable you to feel more comfortable with instruments and try out more systematic approaches to sound healing sessions.
Students who have already had some experience and want to further their practical understanding and skills may choose to undertake Level 4 or 5. These higher levels emphasize more the conscious facilitation, sophisticated techniques, session design, participant awareness, and responsible practice.
Combined Training is a more rounded route for students who wish to invest a focused amount of time into learning and development and who want to experience a progression of multiple stages. It will enable you to develop your knowledge step by step and keep it in a logical sequence.
If you're not sure which is right for you, our teachers can explain the various levels based on your experience and objectives. First and foremost, select a course that will provide you with sufficient time and space to learn, practise, observe and grow with sound healing.
What You Will Learn
Our sound healing courses aim to provide you with a hands-on and experiential experience of sound healing. Throughout the training, you will learn how to use various instruments, what is vibration and resonance, how to prepare a session and how to create a positive environment for yourself and others.
Singing Bowl Techniques
You will discover the basics of playing Himalayan singing bowls, how to make clear, stable and harmonic sounds. You will learn to strike, circle and use various qualities of sound and vibration through guided practice.
Sound Bath Facilitation
You will learn how to make and lead Sound Baths with various instruments. The training covers the structure of sessions, sequencing, timing, transitions and keeping the experience calm.
Sound, Vibration & Resonance
Understanding sound goes beyond simply hearing it. The connection between sound, vibration, resonance and awareness will be explored. This awareness will enable you to be more aware of how instruments will sound and how to hear different sounds within a session.
Traditional Chakra Based Practices
Traditional chakra based practices about sound healing are introduced to the courses. You will be informed of the ways sound and vibration can be included in practices of awareness and energetic balance and how these practices are related to their spiritual context.
Group Sound Healing Sessions
Group sessions call for a different way of working than individual sessions. You will be able to arrange instruments, plan a group practice, control volume levels and provide a balanced experience for people practicing in the same space.
One-to-One Sound Sessions
You will learn the essentials of performing a sound healing session with one person. This involves setting up the room, talking to the person and choosing suitable instruments, and ensuring an engaging and supportive environment.
Session Preparation & Participant Comfort
Good preparation is an important aspect of responsible practice. You will be able to set up the room, set up the instruments, communicate expectations and will be mindful of comfort, positioning, personal boundaries and participants' needs before starting a session.
Responsible Sound Healing Practice
Our training encourages students to approach sound healing with respect, awareness, and responsibility. You will learn the importance of clear communication, appropriate boundaries, informed participation, and recognising when sound healing should complement rather than replace professional medical or psychological care.
Through these areas of study, you develop practical skills while also cultivating listening, patience, awareness, and confidence. The aim is not simply to learn how to play instruments, but to understand how to work with sound in a thoughtful, respectful, and meaningful way.
Sound Healing Instruments You Will Practise With
Sound healing is an experiential practice, and the instruments used during training are an important part of the learning process. At Himalayan Sound Healing School, students have the opportunity to practise with traditional and widely used sound healing instruments while learning how each instrument produces its own quality of sound and vibration.
Working directly with instruments allows students to develop listening skills, confidence, coordination, and sensitivity. Rather than learning only from theory, you will have opportunities to observe demonstrations, practise techniques, experience the sounds, and understand how different instruments can be incorporated into individual and group sessions.
The focus is not simply on learning how to make sound, but on developing the awareness to listen, observe, control and use each instrument appropriately.
Explore the Sound Healing Instrument Library
During your training, you will experience instruments with different tones, textures, rhythms and levels of resonance. Learning how they respond — individually and together — helps build a more thoughtful relationship with sound.
Himalayan Singing Bowls
Himalayan singing bowls are among the central instruments used in our sound healing training. They produce rich, layered tones that can be experienced through both sound and vibration.
Students learn different ways of playing the bowls, including striking and circling techniques. You will learn how the sound of the bowl will alter based on the point of contact, the speed of the bowl and the pressure applied.
Singing bowls training also helps you to listen well. You become familiar with the start, growth and natural end of a sound and the use of silence as an integral component of a session.
Tibetan Singing Bowls
Tibetan singing bowls are used for spiritual ceremonies in the Himalayas and are now popular as a tool for meditation and sound healing. They are unique in that they are used for a calming, immersive sound environment, which are also valuable instruments.
Students train to be aware of, and handle and play the bowl during the training. You discover the different responses of different bowls and how they can be used on their own or in combination with other instruments.
Emphasis is on establishing a natural link with the instrument, not just on producing sound. Regular practice helps pupils to get used to tone, resonance, timing and transitions.
Crystal Singing Bowls
The crystal singing bowl is a bowl that makes a clear and sustained sound and is used in modern day sound healing sessions and meditation. They are bright and spacious sounding and offer a different kind of sound to the traditional metal singing bowls.
Students are introduced to playing techniques that are appropriate and how to use crystal bowls in sound sessions. Consideration is given to volume, pacing, placement and how various sounds relate to each other.
Crystal bowls are also able to be used in conjunction with other instruments to produce layers of sound. Students are taught to hear these combinations and how a session can be built up over time instead of employing all the instruments.
Gongs
Gongs have the ability to generate a wide spectrum of sounds, overtones, and vibrations. They can establish a powerful footprint in a sound bath and they can be utilized for transitions or to create deeper layers of sound.
Students learn how to use and play a gong and how some parts and techniques can create different sounds. Volume and participant comfort are also highlighted during the training.
The gong is capable of producing a powerful sound, so it is important to learn how to use it responsibly. Students are encouraged to learn to control time and be sensitive, not just intense.
Tuning Forks
Tuning forks are instruments that are used for making a specific tone, a precision instrument. They can be employed in a number of sound and vibration practices and can be used to focus on working with sound.
Students are taught safe use of tuning forks and how to add their sounds to suitable practices. The training covers the methods of listening, resonance, placement and the individual tones in a session.
Students can use tuning forks in conjunction with singing bowls and other instruments to explore the various qualities of sound and make more varied experiences.
Koshi Chimes
Koshi chimes produce gentle, subtle and balanced tones which can be helpful for transitions and relaxation. The soothing sounds may set the tone for a relaxed and open session.
Students are taught to use chimes at an appropriate time to perform with movement. Their sound may be subtle, so it gives a chance to become aware of quieter sounds and to leave instruments enough space between them.
Koshi chimes can be used at the start, end or in between different practices.
Ocean Drum
The ocean drum makes a sound that is like the sound of waves in the ocean. The small particles on the inside of the drum roll across its surface, producing a flowing and rhythmic sound when the drum is played by tilting it slightly.
Students learn how this instrument can be used to create atmosphere and add natural rhythmic qualities to their sound sessions. Can add a contrast to sustained tones of singing bowls and crystal bowls.
With the instrument being moved under control, it also helps in developing the sense of rhythm and patience. The ocean drum can be a useful sound tool if used wisely in a sound journey.
Rain Stick
The rain stick gives a gentle, continuous sound like rain falling. It can be used to make a subtle transition between sounds and to add natural sound textures to meditation and relaxation.
Students discover the relationship between the pitch and the velocity of the rain stick and the sound produced. This helps to focus attention on pacing and shows the importance of using even basic instruments to help set the tone of a session.
Shamanic Drum
The shamanic drum is a traditional drum that may be used to add grounding and rhythm elements to a sound practice. Unlike sustained resonating sound of singing bowls, it offers more of a rhythmic dimension.
Students are taught basic playing skills and the possibilities of using rhythm in a suitable way in sound based practices. Emphasis is placed on the development of control, and on the way rhythmic sound relates to the flow of a session.
Handpan
The handpan is a melodic hand percussion instrument with a warm, resonant and meditative tone. The tones can be used to establish a subtle musical framework and harmonize with other sound healing tools.
Students can learn some simple ways to play the handpan and learn the idea of using melodic instruments to relax and meditate. The focus is still on listening to the music mindfully and making harmonious sound, not on performing complicated music.
Chanting and Mantras
The Human Voice is also considered a true instrument throughout the training and is used for chanting, toning and mantra. Students learn how to use their own voice to lead breath, enhance relaxation and add a personal and intimate touch to any session that cannot be duplicated by instruments.
Students are taught simple mantra repetition, vowel toning, and humming using breath as a guide to help develop a natural and confident voice to carry them forward into any future session.
Bells and Other Traditional Instruments
Small bells and other traditional sound instruments may also be used during training. They have bright, open notes that can be useful for beginning or ending a practice, for transitions or to bring the attention back to the present moment.
Pupils are introduced to the idea that a successful sound healing session doesn't have to be very long and involve a lot of instruments. The important thing is the conscious and appropriate use of the instruments.
A meaningful sound healing session is not created by using the greatest number of instruments. It develops through listening, timing, sensitivity and knowing when each sound has a purpose.
How Sound Healing Is Taught at Our School
At Himalayan Sound Healing School, sound healing is taught through a combination of traditional understanding, practical demonstrations, guided practice, and personal experience. We believe that sound healing is best understood when students have the opportunity to listen, practise, experience, observe, and receive guidance throughout their training.
Classes are designed to be interactive and experiential. Teachers introduce the principles and techniques before students practise them with different sound healing instruments. This allows you to gradually develop familiarity with the instruments and understand how small changes in technique can influence sound, vibration, resonance, and the overall experience.
Practical sessions form an important part of the training. Students practise individually as well as with partners and groups, giving them the opportunity to experience sound healing from both the practitioner's and participant's perspective. This helps develop confidence, listening skills, awareness, and sensitivity.
We also encourage students to ask questions and learn through observation. Teachers guide students through techniques, demonstrate different approaches, and provide feedback during practice. This creates a supportive learning environment where students can improve gradually without feeling pressured.
The training also gives importance to preparation, communication, participant comfort, and responsible practice. Students learn that facilitating sound healing involves more than playing an instrument. Creating the right environment, respecting individual boundaries, and remaining attentive throughout a session are equally important.
Our approach combines learning with personal experience, allowing students to discover their own relationship with sound while developing practical skills. The aim is to help every student become a more confident, aware, and responsible sound healing practitioner.
The aim is not simply to teach students how to play sound healing instruments, but to help them develop the listening, presence, sensitivity and responsibility required to work with sound thoughtfully.

Anyone with an Open Mind
Most importantly, sound healing is open to anyone willing to learn with patience, curiosity, and respect. Whether your goal is personal exploration or developing skills to work with others, our courses provide a supportive environment to begin or deepen your journey.
Residential Sound Healing Training
Residential sound healing training offers an opportunity to immerse yourself completely in the learning process. Instead of attending classes and returning immediately to your usual routine, you can dedicate a focused period of time to study, practice, reflection, and personal experience.
Residing in Rishikesh during your training can help you to immerse yourself in the vibe of the school and enjoy the spiritual ambiance of Rishikesh. Your days can focus on learning, practice, rest and exploration, giving you time to get away from all the distractions of everyday life.
Residential programmes are particularly beneficial for students from other cities and countries. Being near the training site facilitates regular attendance at classes, practice between sessions, interaction with other students and questions to teachers as necessary.
The immersive environment also provides you with greater exposure to sound healing instruments. It is important to have time to learn and practise repeatedly to gain confidence with the instruments and experience them naturally.
Rishikesh offers more than just classroom instruction, allowing students to delve into the world of yoga, meditation, Ganges River and the surrounding Himalayan landscapes. Time for personal reflection and enjoying the special ambience of the city can be used during this free time.
Residential training is more than just dormitory and classes. It's the design of a focused learning experience where study and daily life are combined. Residential training can offer students a tranquil and immersive experience to engage with the practice of sound healing in Rishikesh.
A residential programme gives you the time and space to move beyond attending classes and become more deeply involved in the rhythm of learning, practice, reflection and life in Rishikesh.
Why Learn Sound Healing in Rishikesh?
Rishikesh has long been associated with yoga, meditation, spirituality, and traditional practices. The city, located at the foot of the Himalayas and along the sacred Ganges, is a popular tourist destination for those who come to seek knowledge, practice and study. This special place makes Rishikesh an interesting place to learn sound healing.
When you learn sound healing in Rishikesh, you have the chance to learn in a place where it is natural to reflect and be aware. Students are able to train in a focused way, away from the distractions and stress of everyday life, in the spiritual ambience for which the city is renowned.
A Spiritual Environment
Yoga and meditation are a living tradition in Rishikesh. From early morning spiritual exercises along the Ganges to meditation and yoga throughout the city, spiritual practices are woven into the fabric of daily life. This setting is a natural context for a student to explore practices related to awareness, relaxation, and inner observation during learning about sound healing.
The Himalayan Connection
The Himalayas have long been a place of contemplation, meditation and spiritual exploration. Being close to the Himalayan landscape can create a sense of connection with nature and provide space for quiet reflection. Students get a chance to enjoy a gentle pace between the training sessions at Rishikesh, given its natural environment. Time spent in nature can complement the focused learning that takes place in the classroom.
The Sacred Ganga
The Ganga is an integral part of the identity and spiritual culture of Rishikesh. The river runs through the city and provides a unique ambiance for many visitors to the city, which is tranquil and inspiring. During their stay, students are able to spend time close to the river and reflect, meditate or rest in the quietness of the river.
A Global Learning Community
Students from various parts of India and abroad come to Rishikesh. This provides a space that is diverse, allowing different groups of people with different backgrounds and experiences to be together in learning. While students are in training to become sound healers, they get the chance to practise with each other, share experiences and build relationships with their fellow students. This worldly setting can enhance and enrich the training experience.
A Place for Personal Exploration
It takes time to adopt a new practice, which sometimes involves stepping away from familiar habits. Rishikesh offers you a chance to stop, see and concentrate on your learning. Students can use their sound healing training to complement yoga, mediation, nature walks and quiet time. These experiences can assist in making a total and immersive holiday.
Traditional Wisdom and Practical Learning
The town of Rishikesh is steeped in Indian traditions, including yoga and meditation, and is also a center for spiritual study. The students are able to explore sound in an environment in which these practices are still continued. Meanwhile, our training is practical. Students learn techniques, instrument practice, session preparation and responsible facilitation.
An Immersive Experience
For many students, travelling to Rishikesh is itself an important part of the learning journey. Being away from daily responsibilities creates an opportunity to focus on something new and meaningful. Structured training, peaceful environments, spiritual traditions, and personal exploration can all create the experience of studying sound healing that includes a sense of immersion beyond a course.
Rishikesh is thus more than just a place for our school. It's part of the learning process. The river, mountains, traditions and variety of the community create a special environment for students to slow down, learn from experience and discover the connection between the human and the sound.
Practical training, traditional understanding, personal experience and supportive guidance come together in one focused learning environment.

Student Experience
Every student arrives at Himalayan Sound Healing School with a different reason for learning sound healing. Some come with no previous experience, while others already practise yoga, meditation, or other holistic disciplines. What brings them together is a shared interest in exploring sound and developing a deeper understanding of its possibilities.
From the beginning of the training, students are encouraged to learn through direct experience. You will have opportunities to listen to different instruments, observe demonstrations, practise techniques, and experience sound healing sessions as a participant.
The learning environment is designed to be supportive and interactive. Students practise together, share experiences, ask questions, and learn from one another. Working with fellow students also provides valuable experience in both facilitating and receiving sound-based practices.
Living and studying in Rishikesh adds another dimension to the experience. Outside class, students can explore the Ganges, visit peaceful places, practise yoga or meditation, and experience the spiritual atmosphere of the city.
The training also gives students time to slow down and focus on themselves. Learning a new practice requires patience, attention, and regular practice, and the surroundings of Rishikesh can provide space for reflection between classes.
Our goal is to create an experience that students can carry beyond the classroom. Along with practical techniques, you develop greater awareness of sound, confidence with instruments, listening skills, and an understanding of responsible practice.
For many students, the course becomes more than learning a new skill. It becomes an opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds, experience Rishikesh, spend meaningful time with sound, and explore a new direction in their personal or professional journey.
Whether you come to learn for yourself or to develop skills for working with others, we hope your time at Himalayan Sound Healing School leaves you with knowledge, practical experience, meaningful connections, and a deeper appreciation for the power of sound.
A sound healing course in Rishikesh is not only about what happens in the classroom — it is also about the practice, people, environment and experiences that become part of your learning journey.
